Grotan OX is a preservative for technical products. It is composed of reaction products of paraformaldehyde and 2-hydroxypropylamine. Its physical properties include a colorless to pale yellow liquid with an amine odor, a density of 1049-1069 g/ml, and a viscosity of 8-176 mPa*s at various temperatures. It is completely soluble in water and has a pH value of about 10. Applications include water-mixed cooling lubricants and technical emulsions.
Recommended dosages vary between 10-15 g/kg. Grotan OX is biologically effective against various bacteria and fungi. It is compatible with various materials, but should be checked for discoloration when in contact with non-ferrous metals. The product is classified as a hazardous material and should be stored protected from frost, heat, and sunlight.
